Putter Fish

Tetraodontidae is a family of primarily marine and estuarine fish of the Tetraodontiformes order. The family includes many familiar species, which are variously called pufferfish, puffers, balloonfish, blowfish, bubblefish, globefish, swellfish, toadfish, toadies, honey toads, sugar toads, and sea squab. They are morphologically similar to the closely related porcupinefish, which have large external spines (unlike the thinner, hidden spines of Tetraodontidae, which are only visible when the fish has puffed up). The scientific name refers to the four large teeth, fused into an upper and lower plate, which are used for crushing the shells of crustaceans and mollusks, their natural prey.
Pufferfish are generally believed to be the second–most poisonous vertebrates in the world, after the golden poison frog. Certain internal organs, such as liver, and sometimes the skin, are highly toxic to most animals when eaten; nevertheless, the meat of some species is considered a delicacy in Japan (as 河豚, pronounced as fugu), Korea (as bok), and China (as 河豚 he2 tun2) when prepared by chefs who know which part is safe to eat and in what quantity.
The Tetraodontidae contain at least 120 species of puffers in 19 genera. They are most diverse in the tropics and relatively uncommon in the temperate zoneand completely absent from cold waters. They are typically small to medium in size, although a few species can reach lengths of greater than 100 centimetres (39 in).

Dwarf Gourami

The dwarf gourami, Trichogaster lalius (formerly known as Colisa lalia), has an almost translucent blue color, with vertical red to dark orange stripes. In its native range it is dried for food, and it is also kept as an aquarium fish. It has become highly popular for aquaria.
Dwarf gouramis from Singapore may carry dwarf gourami iridovirus. Recent research has shown that 22% of Singapore Trichogaster lalius carry this virus.
A varied diet is very important to the dwarf gourami, which is an omnivore that prefers both algae-based foods and meaty foods. An algae-based flake food, along with freeze-dried bloodworms, tubifex, and brine shrimp, will provide these fish with proper nutrition.

Red-Tailed Black Shark

The red-tailed black shark (Epalzeorhynchos bicolor), also known as the redtail shark and Labeo bicolor, is a species of freshwater fish in the carp family,Cyprinidae. It is currently critically endangered in the wild, but common in aquaria, where it is prized for its deep black body and vivid red or orange tail.

In the aquarium trade, tail colors can vary, with bright red and orange being the most common. If the shark is stressed or unhealthy, the red color will drain from its tail. Albino forms may also be encountered.

Cichlids Fish

Cichlids are fishes from the family Cichlidae in the order Perciformes. Cichlids are members of a group known as the Labroidei along with the wrasses (Labridae), damselfish (Pomacentridae), and surfperches (Embiotocidae). This family is both large and diverse. At least 1,650 species have beenscientifically described, making it one of the largest vertebrate families. New species are discovered annually, and many species remain undescribed. The actual number of species is therefore unknown, with estimates varying between 1,300 and 3,000.

The shark catfishes are a family, the Pangasiidae, of catfishes found in fresh and brackish waters across southern Asia, from Pakistan to Borneo. Among the 30-odd members of this family is the plant-eating, endangered Mekong giant catfish Pangasianodon gigas, one of the largest known freshwater fishes. Several species have recently become a booming aquaculture success in Vietnam's Mekong Delta.

Flower Horn Fish

Flowerhorn cichlids are ornamental aquarium fish noted for their vivid colors and the distinctively shaped heads for which they are named. Their head protuberance, orkok, is formally termed a "nuchal hump." Like blood parrot cichlids, they are man-made hybrids that do not exist in nature. First developed in Malaysia and Taiwan, they are now kept by fish hobbyists worldwide. Some critics have questioned the impact of flowerhorn breeding programs.

Small Fish

Corydoras Catfish
Some Corydoras Catfish school together and swim across the bottom of the aquarium. Other species like this Corydoras sterbai usually do not school, but they do seem to enjoy each other's company. Two or more of them will often swim together, and several will often rest together. This species probably does not need to be kept in a group of more than 3, but they seem to have more fun in a bigger group.

Clown Loaches
like these, seem to be very happy, when they live in a school with 6 or more Clown Loaches. Here 5 of them pile on top of each other, which is a very typical behavior for Clown Loaches. It's lots of fun to watch them play together.

A school of Serpae Tetras
Swims together near a large piece of Ceramic Driftwood. Serpaes often form a loose school but enjoy exploring on their own too. These Serpaes live in a 55-gallon aquarium in a group with 12-Serpae Tetras.

Guppy Fish
Also known as the millionfish or fancy Guppy, these fish are an excellent addition to the non-aggressive community fish tank. Special breeding programs have produced unique color strains in the species. Native to Trinidad, and regions of South America, the fish was discovered in Trinidad in 1866 by Robert John Lechmere Guppy. Although he wasn't the first to write about this species, the name "Guppy" stuck

Gold Fish

The Goldfish was one of the first fish species kept in ponds by man. In China, wild caught carps were kept in outdoor ponds as ornamental fish and selectively bred until the eventually turned into the first type of goldfish.

The Goldfish of today originates from wild Asian carps, and all the different Goldfish variations are considered to be the same species: Carassius auratus auratus.

Butterfly Koi

05:31 Posted by Naughty Boy 0 comments

The Butterfly koi is similar to the traditional Koi, but is equipped with long and flowing decorative finnage. The finnage resembles the delicate wings of a butterfly, hence them name. Many breeders and Koi keepers do not consider the Butterfly Koi a true Koi, since it is a hybrid.
The first Koi fish were developed in Japan during the 19th century, but the Butterfly Koi has a history no longer than a few decades. The Koi fish is sometimes viewed as a Goldfish, but this is not true. Both Koi and Goldfish are domesticated versions of a wild carp and they are closely related, but the goldfish was developed in China while the Koi was breed in Japan.
